Monuments to the Everyday

2011 • Lightcatcher, Whatcom Museum of Art, Bellingham, Washington

This exhibition had two parts.

Outside, in the courtyard, The World's Largest Walk Thru Handbag. Originally made for the Bellevue Art Museum, this 14' tall purse is big enough to move into.

Inside, a series of embroideries on handmade paper, mounted on wood. These embroideries are simple sketches of everyday objects, rendered in shades of gray, black, andwhite thread. I draw these first, then program my CNC embroidery machine to sew them.
